Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is a 300-acre landscaped and ecologically-sound gem within the city. It’s a perfect location for a hike any day of the year, and the park is only closed Christmas Day, so if you feel the need to get out into the open air, why not check out the five miles of hiking trails at Overland Park?
The gardens are devoted to the preservation and upkeep of eight ecosystems, providing a natural landscape that’s native to this neighborhood. You can take out Friends of the Arboretum membership on an annual basis, and this allows you free access to the park at any time. If you want to spend a full day exploring the gardens and arboretum, the on-site cafe is available for meals, snacks, and drinks, and you can book onto a guided tour, so you can learn more about the different features in the park. If you enjoy gardening, you could even volunteer to help out at the Arboretum, as they are always looking for willing local helpers.
