A Taste Extravaganza: Overland Park’s Holiday Farmers’ Market

farmers-market-produce

With 35 years under its belt serving up the freshest farm-to-table foods in the region, Overland Park’s Holiday Farmers’ Market is quite the event. It has a reputation for featuring the highest quality fruits, vegetables, cheeses, baked goods, and handcrafted items in town. Each is produced and created by the area’s most innovative farmers and artisans.

The Indoor Holiday Farmers’ Market

On Saturday, December 2nd from 8 am to 2 pm, the Matt Ross Community Center will host an extension of this seasonal outdoor event. They call it the Indoor Holiday Farmers’ Market. It’s a chance for local residents to buy top-rated winter produce and homemade gifts for the holiday season. Most of all, you get to check off your holiday lists while helping to support regional businesses.

The “Best Farmers’ Market in Kansas”

The event has been named the “Best Farmers’ Market in Kansas” by Cooking Light Magazine, Small Business Trends, and Tripping Vacation Rentals. This year’s festive taste extravaganza has a lot to offer. You’ll find prepared foods, winning wines, fabulous fruits and more by local celebrities. The internationally-recognized Holy-Field Vineyard and Winery, the heart-centered MindfullyMade product line, and the cooperative vegetable ventures of Where the Redfearn Grows are just a few familiar faces you’ll see.

In fact, staff members personally inspect each farm and program participant. Basically, every vendor meets the highest quality standards. You can find a complete list of this year’s participating vendors here.

Fresh Food for Everyone

In addition, payment is easy as pie. The great news is that the Holiday Farmers’ Market accepts multiple forms of payment. Bring your cash, debit, credit cards, and debit vouchers. They also accept the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Senior Vouchers Program (SFNMP) cards. Both of those programs double the holder’s purchasing power up to $25 on qualified fresh fruits and vegetables. Everyone is truly welcome to shop at the Holiday Market.

Head on over to 8101 Marty Street the first weekend in December for some of the most succulent sweets, incredible ingredients, and signature crafts in Kansas. The Community Center is just 10 miles from Signature Place at Nottingham, and parking is available on-site.
