One of the exceptional benefits of living at Signature Place Apartments is our close proximity to loads of outdoor activities. In fact, less than three miles from our community sits a highlight of Johnson County’s Parks and Recreation District (JCPRD), the vibrant Thomas S. Stoll Memorial Park. Named after the park chairman who played a key role in its development, the park boasts a whopping 79-acres that are packed full of fun activities, trails, and athletic events to keep you “naturally” entertained all year long.
Pet lovers are drawn to the park because of the 7-acre fenced off-leash dog park that features both a large meadow and a wooded area for exploration. Located near the center of the park, it’s great if you want to stretch yours and your pups legs beyond the borders of Signature Place’s cozy Bark Park. There’s even a walking trail for pet parents and plenty of water available for everyone during the warmer months of the year.
In addition to this local pup hotspot, there are seven athletic playing fields available for rental at Thomas Stoll Park. Every spring, the park plays host to several youth soccer leagues for kids in 1st through 8th grades, and a Pee Wee league for 4 to 6 year-olds. One of the great aspects of the park is that it’s maintained not through taxes, but instead through fees collected from these leagues, as well as from JCPRD’s adult softball leagues that are active during the spring, summer, and fall months.
This scenic 79-acre oasis also has miles of beautiful paved walking and biking trails, a fishing lake, a picnic shelter, and a playground. Thomas S. Stoll Memorial Park is located at 12500 W. 119th St., and is open dawn to dusk. Contact them at 913-312-8833 if you’d like updates on park events, or call 913-826-2850 if you’re interested in renting one of the playing fields. And feel free to contact us as well if you’d like more information on living near this picturesque and action-packed park!
