Overland Park is close enough to Kansas City that you can enjoy all of the attractions and events of the big city, but there are plenty of things to do without venturing too far from Signature Place. Here are some places to have a good time in Overland Park.
Every Saturday between 7 am and 1 pm, stop by the Farmers’ Market at 7950 Marty Street for fresh local produce. You can enjoy live music, free samples, and support local business at the best farmers’ market in Kansas.
The Indian Creek Bike and Hike Trail is a great place to spend an afternoon burning some calories. The closest place to park is at Corporate Woods Founders’ Park where you can access the trailhead and then venture down as much of the 17 miles of paths that you want. The trails are open from 5 am until 10 pm and will be patrolled by the police department during the summer.
The Museum at Prairiefire celebrates natural history and culture in our region and the rest of the world. Admission is free to the exhibits in the Great Hall. Children will love the Discovery Room which encourages hands-on learning about paleontology, biology, zoology, astronomy, and other areas of science. You do not want to miss “Brain: The Inside Story” which explores how the human brain works. Tickets to the Discovery Room and “Brain” can be purchased online.
